Wanaka Rental Market - August 2016

What is the low down on the Wanaka market? We specialise in rents only (no sales) but it doesn't take an expert to see that the prices being paid for houses are a fair bit up on what they were a year ago. Rents are following suit and have gradually increased so that the average rent for a 3 bedroom home is $450 per week.

Bear in mind this includes everything from old, single glazed baches with no garage, to new homes with 2 bathrooms, double garage, an office and a laundry. Typical rents on those newer houses are in the mid to high $500's. We are also seeing tenants offering above asking rent to secure a home. Demand continues to be strong.

There are plenty of new houses going up in the developing sub-divisions at Kirimoko Park, Nothlakes, Riverside Park, Timsfield and Ruby Ridge. Some are still waiting on titles, so even more building expected. There are also new commercial premises being built at Three Parks, with the new sports facility already up and running. An extension to the Aspiring Lifestyle Village will see 50 new jobs in the aged care / hospice sector, due for completion in October. So its all systems go.

We are always happy to have a chat to discuss your needs and preferences when it comes to rental properties. Give us a call. We do free appraisals too.
