Renting homes from late June and into August in Wanaka is typically a little slower than the April to early June period when winter properties are in high demand. This winter has been no different, homes with 1 and 2 bedrooms remain popular with a steady flow of applications, while 3+ bedroom homes have not attracted the same volume of applications as earlier in the year. We are seeing that long term rental homes still have a 3 to 4 week timeframe on average to have a signed Tenancy Agreement in place. Tenants are price sensitive so the lower priced homes are attracting more interest than the higher priced ones.
Key indicators:
We are currently between seasons when demand is lower.
The drop in application numbers is consistent with patterns we've seen in previous years.
Days on market - realestate.co.nz & Trademe show some properties listed for a while
We expect to see an increase in enquiries and applications for all homes as we move into spring in September.
